Parmaichnus Pervesler and Uchman, 2009


DESCRIPTION: Vertical to oblique tubular burrows that are y-shaped in general morphology, with a u-shaped upper burrow with a basal shaft. Burrow walls are smooth and unlined and exhibit ovoid widened chambers in the lower part of the upper burrow as well as the basal shaft.

BEHAVIOR(S): Fodinichnia and repichnia, particularly the turning chambers are used for suspension feeding circulated waters within the burrow

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Marine, particularly intertidal and upper subtidal environments

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: upogebiid crustaceans

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Lower Pleistocene
