DESCRIPTION: Single entry borings in boney media. Borings are circular to sub-circular apertures, which lack rims and platforms. Aperture extends as a thick canal, perpendicular to bone surface, to a globular or irregularly shaped chamber at base. May have exploratory tunnels extending from bottom chambers.
BEHAVIOR(S): Fodinichnia, borings of suspension feeders or passive carnivores.
ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Deep marine. Borings in whale bones that rest on the sea floor.
POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Siboglinidae worms (Osedax).
GEOLOGIC RANGE: Cretaceous-recent
