DESCRIPTION: Subspherical chambers that may have a clay lining with shafts radiating upwards mainly from the upper chamber and sides of the chamber. Maiakarichnus is preserved in full relief.

BEHAVIOR(S): Calichnia

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Marine

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Crustaceans; this trace is interpreted as a brood structure of callianassids.

GEOLOGIC RANGE: Miocene

REMARKS: Maiakarichnus can be found intergrading with Thalassinoides and Ophiomorpha. Maiakarichnus is similar to Ardelia, except Ardelia has branched galleries and shafts radiating from all sides.
