Lingulichnus Hakes, 1976


DESCRIPTION: Trace consists of subcircular, sediment filled tubes that often have concave-up spreite. Traces may be vertically or obliquely oriented, mucus-lined shafts. Lingulichnus may be straight to sinuous, or form unlined J- to U-shaped burrows.

BEHAVIOR(S): Domichnia, Equilibrichnia, Repichnia

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS: Most fully marine environments from slope to shoreface, common in storm deposits and intertidal settings.

POSSIBLE TRACEMAKERS: Lingulid brachiopods
